Sub: Commodores Newsletter The following information notes changes that you should act on before starting 2005 DRYA racing.· For All BoatsThe start sequences have been modified from 2004 so review the "starting order" as some starts have changed in the sequence. · For "A" Course and "C" Course Handicap Rated BoatsFor PHRF boats, your class flag may have changed so review the "class flags" to see what flag will be needed prior to race day. · For "A" Course BoatsYour selection of what class you will be racing in needs to be communicated to the DRYA office prior to May 18. During this IRC transition year, you need to declare whether you will race in the PHRF/IRC classes (Class A, B, C) or the all season PHRF class (PHRF 1). This selection will allow the scoring program to be established before racing starts which will facilitate race day results being produced in a timely fashion. If you want to race IRC after the Mackinac Race, then choose to race in Class A (PHRF 60 or lower), Class B (PHRF 63 to 99), or Class C (PHRF 102 to 141). If you want to race PHRF after the Mackinac Race, then choose the PHRF 1 Class. If you switch from Class A, B, or C to PHRF 1 after the start of the season, then you may not be eligible for season standings or season awards. You also may skew the results for the other boats in Class A, B, C, or PHRF 1 if you move classes. You will only be eligible for season awards, if you qualify with the minimum number of races in the same class for the season.
